Microblading

Microblading

What is microblading?

Microblading is an aesthetic technique that is similar to tattooing. The process uses a handheld pen equipped with 12-15 thin, sterile needles. The tip of the pen is so fine that the resulting pigment deposits look like real hair.

Unlike a permanent tattoo, microblading does not reach into the deeper layers of your skin. The pigment is deposited in the outermost layers of the skin. The process does not require the rapid in-and-out motion of a tattoo gun.

What steps does a microblading session involve?

The process begins with a consultation at Marvel Cosmetic to determine the best brow shape and fullness for your face and a discussion of your personal treatment goals. Then your practitioner shapes your brows to remove any hair that falls outside of your desired shape.

Next, a numbing cream is applied to keep the treatment area comfortable throughout the procedure. Once the numbing agent has had time to go into effect, your practitioner removes the cream and cleanses your brow area.

Your practitioner then begins to move the microblading pen across the surface of your skin, creating gentle and precise strokes exactly where needed. Each stroke creates a sort of scratch in your skin, similar to a papercut.

A pigment that matches your existing hair color is applied and sinks into those tiny lines in your skin. After a period of time, your practitioner removes the pigment and cleanses the area again. You can expect your results to last from 1-3 years, depending on how your body responds to microblading and how well you care for your skin over that period of time.

What should I expect after eyebrow microblading?

A degree of redness, swelling, and sensitivity is normal after microblading, but there is no significant pain. Your practitioner gives you specific instructions on how to care for your brows during the healing process.

In general, you should avoid using Retin-A or other retinol products for a week before and a month after your microblading session. Try not to get your brows wet for a week or so while they heal, and don’t use makeup or skin care products in the area.

It’s also essential to use a good quality sunscreen on your brows once healing is complete. This will extend your results and make the most of your microblading session. Microblading is a semi-permanent aesthetic service, but with proper care, you can enjoy lasting results.
